On July 7, 2007, ISPCAN (International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect) celebrated its 30th Anniversary. Over three decades ago, Colorado pediatrician C. Henry Kempe assembled a group of child abuse professionals from around the world to found an international organization that would support and advance their work.

The organization’s first initiatives were to publish an international journal and hold an international conference on child abuse and neglect. ISPCAN’s monthly, peer-reviewed journal, Child Abuse and Neglect, is now the preeminent publication in the field of CAN (Child Abuse and Neglect), and its biennial International Congress has become the most prestigious international conference on CAN worldwide.

In the past 30 years, this International Congress has been held in 16 cities around the world, including Geneva, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Montreal, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Hamburg, Chicago, Kuala Lumpur, Dublin, Auckland, Durban, Denver, and Brisbane. At the last Congress, in 2006, in York, England, 1,000 professionals from 88 countries heard 691 papers on CAN (Child Abuse and Neglect)!

This album is dedicated to ISPCAN. A portion (at least 50%) of the profits made from , Prints, Merchandise, or Downloads ordered from any of the photos contained within this album will be donated to this wonderful organization. Some of these photos are of Mexico's orphaned children. Signed Model Releases are available for all commercial sales. Some are signed by the primary caregiver (when the child does not have a parent), some by the child's parent.

MEXICAN GIRL

This beautiful girl lives in Guadalajara, Mexico, in an area called Cerros de Quatros (Hill of the Four), a mountain in the middle of a city of 10 million people, where the antenna for the Channel 4 Television Station is located.

She is one of Mexico's many orphaned children.

I was there to help build a soup kitchen to feed children like her (right now, this soup kitchen feeds about 700 kids each and every day). The food is donated by local merchants (including Costco, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico).
